Welcome to

LUNA

We are a small non-profit put together to support research, education, advocacy, and resources for women’s under-recognized health issues. LUNA is operating for charitable and educational purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.

 Dr. Jen's Welcome Message

Our first ever campaign kicks off with a Cross Country Bike ride in March of 2026. It will be completed by Dr. Jen Milus, the original founder. Beyond Administrative costs, all proceeds go to a scholarship fund where women can apply to get funding for meds, surgeries, and counseling associated with their health issues. The 3 major areas we will cover are: Breast Implant Illness, Osteoporosis and Rape Crisis. Other applications will be considered.

Thank you for your support!
Dr. Jen

Jennifer N. Milus, DC
Chairperson
Jen Milus, Chairperson

Dr. Jen is the founder and creator of LUNA. Her experience in the healthcare field for over 30 years, and as a patient, showed her that many women’s health issues are under researched, underfunded and underserved. This can all lead to Women feeling misunderstood, and being unable to find appropriate medical care. This has turned her efforts to raising awareness and funds to help.
After retiring from private practice in 2023, Dr. Jen pursued advanced education in bone health through the Bone Health ECHO program, the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), and mentorship with Lani Simpson, DC, CCD. She now teaches evidence-based Bone Health Strategies seminars online and nationwide. Visit www.drjenspeaks.com to learn more.

The Northern Tier Eastern Half will take us on an extraordinary cross-country cycling journey beginning in Fargo, North Dakota, and continuing eastward through Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

After crossing the northern portion of the United States by bicycle, we will celebrate the completion of this incredible adventure by dipping our tires into the Atlantic Ocean in Bar Harbor, Maine.

This journey will continue to raise awareness for women’s health issues that are often overlooked while inspiring women of all ages to embrace strength, resilience, adventure, and lifelong wellness.

We'll be sharing photos, videos, and ride updates from both events at Ladies Underserved Needs Alliance - LUNA on Facebook. If you're already friends with Dr. Jen on Facebook, you'll also find updates on her personal Facebook page.

Please follow along, share our posts, and help us spread awareness of LUNA's mission to support women facing underserved health challenges. Every share helps us reach more women who may benefit from our programs and more people who want to support our cause.

Dr. Jen's Bone Health Series will be offered again, in Chestertown, Maryland. It will be presented through WCALL, Washington College at a near campus venue. Times: Tuesdays  at 1 pm, October 13- November 17th. For more info, and sign ups, go to the Washington College Website

Forms

BII / Explant Forms

Please feel free to download these generic templates you can fill out and submit to your insurance company to claim coverage for your care.

 About Explant / BII Forms

Most insurance companies don’t want to cover explant surgery because they say it’s cosmetic. This is most often not true. Most people would not go through this kind of pain if they weren't actually sick. Since 2021, they have a Black Box Warning on them. This is because they are not safe. There are dozens of health implications and symptoms associated with your body's reaction to implants. These have been reported: Swelling, redness, pain, headaches, high blood pressure, body-wide inflammation, body-wide joint pain, chest and rib pain, shortness of breath, hormonal changes, lab findings, osteoporosis, and anxiety. Simply put: not enough research has been done.

The forms below should be thoroughly filled out when applying for coverage of explant surgery. Include any and all symptoms that started after your surgery, even if you don't think they are related. If this doesn’t work, your state’s attorney can be contacted. They can help you navigate your insurance company's guidelines to get them to pay.

Complete the forms below, have your physician(s) sign them, then send copies to your insurance company’s review department. There should be an address on your insurance card. Include all labs, special studies, reports, and letters from your doctors.

Application for Insurance Coverage

Your insurance company needs the proper information, documentation  and  Diagnosis (ICD-10) Codes. They need to know that this is not cosmetic. Fill this out to send to them.. You may need to include doctor's records, MRI and Mammogram reports, etc.

Letter of Medical Necessity (Surgeon)

Download, print, and fill out. Then have your surgeon sign.

Letter of Medical Necessity (GP, NP)

Download, print, and fill out. Then have your GP, and any other doctor or Nurse Practitioner you have seen regarding your needs sign.

ICD-10 Codes Associated with Breast Implant Illness

Refer to this document to help identify any diagnosis codes your doctor has indicated on your records, or for anything that you have noticed that has changed in your health since you got your implants. Be sure to include as many codes as are applicable to your situation when you complete your Application for Insurance Coverage form (see above).
